Galaxy of Empathy – A Care Utopia
Participatory theatre and installation by Initiative Ausstellungspark
PATHOS Theater Munich, September 2025
What would a place look like where we actually want to grow old – a place where care is not only a necessity, but a living exchange of giving and receiving? A space where closeness, respect, and community can flourish, where we support one another without fear and with deep humanity?
The participatory theatre project Galaxy of Empathy by Initiative Ausstellungspark explores precisely this question, envisioning a poetic utopia of care, empathy, and connection. Through the interplay of theatre, installation, and performance, a polyphonic image emerges – one that understands care as both a social and deeply personal practice.
As part of the evening, Sascha Paar and Karl Reinisch developed the choreographic piece GRENZKÖRPER – a physically condensed encounter between two generations. The performance explores intimacy, vulnerability, and mutual perception as resonant spaces between a young and an old body. Everyday gestures – sitting, breathing, touching – become reflections on coexistence.
“We present our qualities, though they are of a different kind.” – Karl Reinisch
Within Galaxy of Empathy, GRENZKÖRPER became a central moment of the evening: a quiet choreography in which care unfolds not as obligation, but as a poetic act – empathy in motion.
